[The video opens with a clear shot of the doorway of Kevin Flynn's cabin propped partway open, and Rinzler supporting an unconscious Kevin Flynn.

Wait. Is that Rinzler? He's got his helmet off for once. The low mechanical growl is the same. The fact he's got about as much emotional affect as he does with the helmet off as he does with it on is probably also a tip-off.

He stares directly at the camera, forming a single spoken word with obvious difficulty:]

Help.

Floor 6, cabin 15. [People bringing their communicators will get a helpful locator ping from Rinzler's locator script.]

[It's Rinzler's cabin. Which means it's mostly dark and sparsely populated by Grid "furniture", really more extensions of the floor than anything. Just off to the edge of the camera's view, there's a flicking red-ringed tail and one of Toshiko's shapely knees. The only sound is a continuous, rumbling purr of a very happy cat.

AND THEN THE FLOOD ENDS.

If Toshiko says anything intelligible it's not heard over the sound of a Rinzler-shaped Rinzler getting dumped on the floor and scrambling over to shut the camera off. FFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUU--]

[When the video comes on, Rinzler's ... nowhere to be seen. Instead, there's a tiny, sleek-looking cat Program with his markings and coloration sitting in front of the camera. It stares obdurately at the lens for several seconds, then scrambles up to paw at the screen as if trying to type.

Sadly, cat paws are not suited to typing at all.]

[The Rinzler-cat gives up in frustration after several seconds and hisses at the camera, then swats at the off button until, on the third try, it cuts the feed.]

He is so affected. And so embarrassed. THIS IS NOT HAPPENING.))

[Rinzler is in the infirmary when the video comes on. He looks ... about as healthy as can be assumed for someone who normally goes around in full-body leather and is suffering a Death Toll. He offers the camera a polite nod, then cocks his helmeted head back to expose his throat. Enough of his suit has been derezzed to make the scarring and bruising there visible, but more importantly, it makes it very easy to see what he does next: Lacing his fingers together, he presses his thumbs into the hollow of his throat.

It matches up with the bruising. Anyone who saw his corpse would also note it matches up with the ugly wounds before he was revived: He's demonstrating his method of suicide. He holds the pose for a good minute, then makes a quick series of hand gestures at the camera that translate themselves out as text.]

«Program JA307020's death self-termination. Associated symbol,» [and this time it looks properly like a slashed zero, not the Following Dark,] «unfortunate case of homology. Further investigation waste of time, energy; recommend abort proceedings.»

[He abruptly sags with exhaustion, and gestures the video feed off.]

[This is not the typical "how did this happen I am not good with cameras" first video post, though it doesn't make very much sense. Someone's playing with the camera to see just what kind of mischief can be achieved with it.

The first fifteen seconds are of a wall of a dark, nondescript room. A low rumble like an idling motor can be heard in the background.

Then there's some missing footage, by the timestamps. Then another fifteen seconds of a slightly out of focus Rinzler (presumably) staring intently at the camera from a distance of about six inches.

More missing footage.

Exactly thirty seconds of pitch darkness interrupted only by the rumbling noise and very faint red lights moving around.

Several one-second shots of something fast and blurry flying past the camera lens. Timestamps indicate the camera came on right as the motion registered on the lens and went off right as whatever-it-was exited the frame.

More pitch blackness, though from the sounds of something knocking into the camera and a loud thump, it got knocked off of whatever it was sitting on and kept filming until it was picked up and turned off. The rumbling noise grows louder up until the turn-off in this one.]
